More than 40 years' experience, on your side.
Planning a renovation can involve some of the biggest financial and practical decisions you will make about your home. Before appointing a builder, committing to a design or spending significant money, it can be invaluable to discuss your plans with someone who understands what actually happens during construction.
Drawing on more than 40 years' experience in the construction industry, the Before You Renovate 60-Minute Renovation Review gives homeowners an opportunity to discuss their proposed project, identify areas that may need further thought and prepare more confidently for the work ahead.

“We don't just discuss what you're going to build. We discuss what it's going to be like to live through it.”
Before You Renovate
What we can discuss
Every renovation is different, so the consultation is shaped around the homeowner's particular project and concerns.
Project objectives and priorities
Whether the proposed scope makes sense
Whether more space is required or the existing space could work better
Budget expectations and contingency
Builder quotations and questions to ask
Potential omissions or unclear items in quotations
Specifications and expected standard of finish
Project sequencing and preparation
Decisions that should ideally be made before construction begins
Potential risks and areas requiring further investigation
Practical next steps
Living through your renovation
A renovation does not only affect the building — it affects the people living in it. The consultation can consider:
Whether remaining in the property during construction is realistic
Loss of kitchens, bathrooms or other essential facilities
Dust, noise and disruption
Children and pets
Working from home
Temporary interruptions to utilities
Security and access
Storage of furniture and belongings
Temporary accommodation
How sequencing the work could reduce disruption
“We don't just discuss what you're going to build. We discuss what it's going to be like to live through it.”
Impact on neighbours
The consultation can also consider how the work may affect those around you:
Noise and working hours
Scaffolding
Deliveries
Skips and waste removal
Contractor parking
Shared access
Keeping neighbours informed
Potential disruption to neighbouring properties
Where matters such as Party Wall issues, boundaries or rights of access may require specialist advice, the homeowner should seek advice from an appropriately qualified professional.
